Having worked within the electrical & photographic retail industry for over 25 years I've learned a lot about taking images and the ever changing equipment needed to capture the moment. I have used many different brands and types of equipment including Minolta, Panasonic, Nikon and currently Sony mirrorless. As time has moved on the size, weight and image quality has become more important to me, at the end of the day the best camera is the one you have with you I find so small and light works best for me.
My passion for photography started when my late mother purchased a fixed lens 35mm point and shoot camera and I found myself picking it up all the time and snapping away. Moving on many years and the equipment and technology is as much a part of my journey as capturing the image.
Having learned from professionals like Ross Hoddinott based in North Cornwall and Mark Bauer based in Dorset they both have helped me focus my work into seeing beyond just the basics and using the light to make the image natural and beautiful. Learning close-up and macro techniques from Ross and landscape from both Ross and Mark you can see the results in my image galleries.
More recently I have challenged myself to a photography project where I only use fixed "prime" lenses instead of the now normal Zoom lenses we all tend to use. The project has been really interesting and has helped me engage with my passion for the art. I have now created a new website called "FixedFocus" where I showcase the amazing images you can create with just one lens in FixedFocus.
